$1,370 towards $3,515

Since I'm now working from home, I've been able to spend some time volunteering at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. (Just go to their website and sign up for a time slot!) But I wanted to financially support the Food Bank as well, and I know I have some awesome people in my life who'll join me in this cause!

1 in 8 people overall โ€“ including 1 in 5 children โ€“ face hunger in Southeast Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. This includes quite a few of my students and their families. The Chattanooga Area Food Bank is preparing for a potential 30% increase in the need for services and anticipate an additional cost of up to $100,000 every month to cover the growing need caused by the coronavirus and the economic impact that will follow.

I'm excited for you and I to join the movement led by the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, Operation Feed Our Neighbors, which will address this critical need through gifts of financial donations and volunteer time. $1 helps provide 4 meals and of every dollar donated, 95 cents goes straight to food and programs.

As many of you know (because it's all I talk about, sorry), I have been training for the Chattanooga 70.3 Ironman, a triathlon event consisting of a 1.2 mile swim in the TN river, a 56 mile bike through north GA, and a half marathon (13.1 mile) run in downtown Chattanooga. It was scheduled for May 17, but it's been postponed due to COVID-19. However, I'm going to press on and do the race anyway, on my own, on May 17! You can sponsor my race by donating to the Food Bank! If I raise $50 for each of the 70.3 total miles of the race, that would be $3515! #math :) Any donation helps, large or small!

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live. We all feel more vulnerable than ever as we see how intertwined our society is. Keep safe, everyone, and please join me in supporting the children, families and seniors who most need it during this time.
