$0 towards $1,095

Everyday I look around me and I see people asking for money. Rarely if ever do I hand them money -why? "I work too damn hard for what I have and I've earned this." Later, when I am sitting at home, I look around and recall my thoughts from earlier in the day and think to myself, "I REALLY don't NEED any of the stuff I spend money on everyday, I buy it because I want to..." Some people cannot "want" anything for one reason or another, but everyone "needs" to eat and drink to stay alive.

I've watched some people hand money to panhandlers, and in seconds watched the panhandler walk into a gas station and walk out with a brown paper bag holding a 40 oz can or a pack of cigarettes - a mix of anger and disappointment fill my head. But at the end of the day, even those people will still need to eat. I can one less drink at the bar - 32 meals. I don't really need another pair of jeans and a shirt, or that pair of shorts and sandals, hell, I've got some in my closet with the tags still on them - 200-400 meals!! Think about that, 3 meals a day, $50 I'd spend on stuff I don't NEED anyway, can feed someone for 66 days, more than 2 months!

What if I didn't have insurance and my house burned down, or I get into a car accident and become paralyzed and can't work, or what if, what if, what if...any freak accident can happen to us at anytime, maybe even the next time we get in our cars to go somewhere...we can't predict the future or where we will be a month from now, a year from now, even a week from now, but if I were in a situation and couldn't afford to support myself, for any reason, I'd want to know that at least I wouldn't go hungry - I'd be able to nourish my body and have the energy to open my eyes and tackle the next day, whatever it may bring.

So, imagine the unexpected happening to you or someone you care for or love, would you be smiling next time you bought that DVD or a round of shots for a group of friends at the bar? I'm not wealthy (or even well off), which is great because that means I can afford to help someone else who is less fortunate than myself for the amount of money I would've spent on something I didn't NEED but would've had the money to buy anyway - think about that!

I am not friends with selfish people, or materialistic people, or narcissists or sociopaths - my friends genuinely care for one another and have each other's backs, they would do anything they could to help someone in need and not think twice about it! Everyone reading this, myself included, has worked hard to earn what we have and we have done well, even at points where we've had to overcome an obstacle or two, we got through it.

Let's do this - I've setup my fundraiser to provide a RESTRICTED donation, that means our money doesn't pay any big wig's salaries or pay for their office supplies or even their utilities - every single penny put into this fundraiser goes directly to purchase food that will be given (handed out for FREE) to a person or a family or a group of people who actually NEED it to survive. I set a goal of $1,095 - that will provide 3 meals a day for 365 days for someone. We can all afford $1, $5, $10, even $20 or more...I've seen our bar tabs lol, we've gone shopping together or taken trips together....Whatever number you come up with, multiply it by 4 and then think about it...that is the number of full meals you are giving someone who isn't going to eat otherwise.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!! I love y'all!!
